Timothy James Murphy

Timothy James Murphy, age 65 of Clinton passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born July 3, 1955 in Tecumseh, the son of Jerry and Frances (Aiuto) Murphy. On May 23, 1975 he married Jane Woodward at Lumen Chapel at Siena Heights University in Adrian and they have shared 46 years together.

Tim worked at Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea as a driver/mechanic until he retired in 2009. Tim enjoyed farming, racing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Jane, Tim is survived by his mom, Frances Murphy of Tecumseh; children, TJ (Mistie) Murphy of Monroe, Jennifer (Matt) Barber of Gilbert, Ariz., and Kyle (Jenn) Murphy of Addison; brother, Paul (Barb) Murphy of Grass Lake; two sisters, Anna Marie (Tom) Kanitz of Britton and Teresa Murphy of Chelsea; seven grandchildren, Tim III, Katie, Sawyer, Ashlyn, Paisley, Taylor and Chase. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Murphy.

Visitation for Tim was on Wednesday, June 30 from 4-8 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Oratory in Clinton with Fr. Peter Clark as celebrant with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in St. Dominic Cemetery in Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee and American Cancer Society.
