Ranee L. Gittus

Ranee Louise Gittus (Doremus), 74, of Tecumseh, Mich. passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024.

She was born in Lansing, Mich. in 1949 to Marvin and Sylvia (Layton) Doremus. She spent much of her childhood in Blissfield with her four brothers and graduated from Blissfield High School.

Ranee married Larry Gittus nearly 55 years ago and was the loving mother to her children, Tom (Jodie), Scott (Danelle), and Chad (Brittany Pohl) Gittus. Her grandchildren Hayden, Katie, Spencer, Brenna, Keith, Sterling, Dylan, and Cole, were a great source of pride and joy.

Ranee was an enthusiastic sports mom who loved watching her boys play in their various games and meets, proudly displaying her Tecumseh Indians buttons. She also enjoyed her grandkids dance and choir performances and games.

She was known for sharing her famous peanut butter cookies, popcorn balls, beautiful ceramic ornaments, and the gifts she knitted for family and friends.

In addition to her family, she was loved by many children she helped care for through the years, who lovingly called her NaeNae.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Purse Martinez Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Reverend Eric Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.  Visitation will also be on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service.
