Charles Mattis

Charles “Charlie” Mattis, 83, of Tecumseh, Michigan passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, after a brief illness
Charlie was born on July 30, 1941, in Tecumseh, Michigan. He graduated from Clinton Schools. In 1975 he co-founded J&C Family Foods with his partner Joe Busch. This venture later grew into Busch’s, a successful company that continues to thrive. He attended and was honored recently at their 50th Anniversary celebration.
Charlie was a devoted family man and loyal friend. He was known for his warm nature, always willing to stop and chat or lend a helping hand. He enjoyed watching game shows and the news with his beloved wife, playing cards with his family and trying his luck at bingo.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Foster) Mattis, whom he married on August 24, 1963; his children Bob Bruggenwirth, Anne (Brian) Shockley and his son-in-law Brad Gauss who was a constant source of support. Charlie also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by many in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry and his parents Norman (Teeka) and Edna Mattis.
Charlie touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Per his request no service will be held.
