Scott A. McMunn

Scott Allan “Scooter” McMunn, age 60, of Swanton, Ohio, died unexpectedly August 22, 2025.  Scott was born November 10, 1964, in Adrian, Mich. to Galen and Susanne McMunn. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1984 and completed the two-year course in Landscape and Nursery Management at Michigan State University in 1986. He started his own patio design business in 1988 and in the early years of his career installed many brick, pavers and stone patios as well as retaining walls. Over the years his business evolved into creating beautiful, naturalistic landscapes with plants, stone and sculptures for many clients in the Toledo area. He had a passion for working with stone.

An award-winning sculptor, he exhibited at the juried University of Toledo Art on the Mall and Crosby Festival of the Arts Shows since 2016. His sculptures always drew the attention and admiration of art show attendees. Art show personnel were always in awe of his dedication, as it was no easy feat to transport and place his large pieces.

His son from his marriage to Janice Jorden in 1991 was the light of his life. He was a proud, devoted, patient Papa to his autistic son and showered him continuously with unconditional love. 

With the help of a 12-step program he gratefully celebrated 38 years of sobriety this year. Scott was a tender-hearted, gentle soul who often did the most thoughtful things for people he loved. All his life, he had a deep reverence for plant life and animals.

He is survived by his son, Ross McMunn of Bowling Green, Ohio; his mother, Susanne McMunn of Tecumseh, Mich.; and his brother, Terry McMunn, of Onsted, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service for Scott will be held at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy., Adrian, Mich. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, with Sr. Esther Kennedy, OP officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. with a memorial service following at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Toledo Animal Rescue, 640 Wyman Rd., Toledo, OH 43604.
