Larry Lyons

With deep love, we announce the passing of Larry Gene Lyons, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who passed away on Aug. 10, 2026, after a long battle with sarcoidosis and pulmonary hypertension. He was born the youngest of four on April 8, 1954, to Otha and Valera Lyons in Jackson, Mich.

As a graduate of Parkside High School, Ferris State College and Spring Arbor University, he taught his family the value of education — which he often touted “no one can ever take your education away from you.” His family will carry his memory forward through the lessons, stories, and love he gave so generously.

Larry dedicated 43 years working in the automotive industry. Starting as a test technician then rising through the ranks of sales and engineering to retiring as a program manager at Walker MFG/Tenneco Automotive, followed by SJM and Faurecia.

He loved football, basketball, golf and watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He enjoyed the serenity of his Coryell Island cottage in the Les Cheneaux Islands.

His warm and friendly personality will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Cindy; son Nathan (Melanie) Lyons, daughter Kianna Lyons, son Marcus (Tarah) Lyons, beloved brother Henry (Dorothy) Lyons, his special cousin Sidney (Regina) Culberson, and grandchildren Alana, Makayla, Amara, Larenzo, Skye and Mareya, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Fowler and brother Oakley Jerome Lyons.

Visitation and services were on Aug. 15 in Tecumseh at Marry Funeral Home at 1448 Short St. followed by a dinner at The Ashlar at 700 Bishop Reed Drive.
