Susan K. McKenzie
Susan Kaye McKenzie, age 72, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, from complications due to liver cancer. Born in Tecumseh, Michigan, to Catherine Theresa (LaLonde) McKenzie and John Raymond McKenzie, Susan lived a life of light and color, flitting from place to place like a butterfly in search of the right flower. Her generous spirit gave warmth and love to those who so desperately needed it, and her laugh – while never the loudest in the room – drew others in like a hug. Her whole life, she held in her heart her grandmother, “Gram,” as her most cherished connection and the one who made her feel at home. We know that she is with her now.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and John McKenzie; her grandmother, Catherine T. (Coogan) LaLonde, and grandfather, Gordon E. LaLonde; her brothers, Scott Everett McKenzie and Thomas John McKenzie; as well as many more family and friends who have been waiting to welcome her back. She is survived by her daughters, Christy (Chumney) Karbousky and Cassy McKenzie; her granddaughter, Annabella Karbousky; her nephews and niece, Josh Maddox, Matthew McKenzie, and Mariah McKenzie; as well as many cousins and extended family who loved her deeply.
