It’s notable that last week Tony Menyhart ducked the most important aspect of personal success — personal responsibility. Let’s get back to Tony’s idea that elected officials are responsible for the health and happiness of their constituents. That’s simply ridiculous; they aren’t.

As I look out the very same southeast window my grandfather did each morning on the Ridge, I begin to realize the beauty it holds. The landscape creates a new painting as each season comes and goes; yet it holds the same agricultural value as it has for hundreds of years.

The Herald does not have enough space for a Facebook-like back and forth on personal responsibility, but perhaps the editor will allow me to point out the many ways that people who think they are self reliant have benefited from help from our government.
