Tecumseh’s varsity baseball team lost 9-1 against Chelsea in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 District semifinal at Milan on Friday, June 3.
Sam Benschoter recorded the loss. He pitched five innings and allowed nine runs, eight earned, two walks, hit two by pitch and struck out three.
Will Sparrow pitched two innings.
The Indians’ offense had four hits.
“Chelsea came out today and did what we wanted to do, which was score first, extend the lead and score with two outs,” said Tecumseh coach Tom Bullinger. “We were not able to do that today against their pitcher. They had a great approach at the plate and hit some balls hard off of Sam [Benschoter].”
Tecumseh finished with an overall record of 23-9.
“The post season is the best time of year, until it’s time to say goodbye,” said Benschoter. “It’s hard because you won’t be able to coach those seniors anymore. They have been with the program for four years and I would like to thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment. They did a good job in leading the right way.”
