Meadowbrook Media expands with Adrian paper

The first issue of the Adrian Reporter will go to press this week, adding to the Meadowbrook Media family.
“This was important for our vision going forward for newspapers in and around Lenawee County,” said Meadowbrook Media owner Rex Crist. “Adrian is the county seat, the center of the county. It will complement our other newspapers in Blissfield, Clinton, Tecumseh and Brooklyn as we look to bring local news to all of the county.”
The Adrian Reporter will be printed Thursdays at The Tecumseh Herald, which is also owned by Meadowbrook Media, and mailed to subscribers. It will also be available at retail locations throughout Adrian. The first issue comes this week.
Doug Donnelly, who has a long newspaper history in southeast Michigan, has been named editor and publisher, a similar role he has with The Advance in Blissfield.
“Our vision is ‘Local news you need from local people you trust,’” Donnelly said. “That is important to us as we bring news and information to Adrian. Everything that happens in Adrian is important to us, and that will show in our coverage.”
An accompanying website will be fully online soon. Digital and print subscriptions will be available.
Meadowbrook Media purchased The Advance in December 2024 and has added the Herald, The Clinton Local and The Exponent in Brooklyn since. It also publishes Overtime, a weekly sports newspaper covering Lenawee County, and Homefront, a glossy magazine published quarterly.
The Reporter will focus on Adrian and the immediate area, plus cover county government and news and sports from Adrian High School, Madison, Lenawee Christian and Sand Creek schools.
“We feel a weekly newspaper fills a need in Adrian and the surrounding area for readers as well as advertisers who want to spread the word about their business,” Crist said.
