Redskins improve to 30-3 in packed house

CLINTON — Clinton’s varsity wrestling team hosted a quad meet for Senior Night on Wednesday, Feb, 3 and picked up a pair of wins in a packed house, according to head coach Jeff Rolland.
 
The Redskins defeated Columbia Central 66-17 in the first match and followed with a 48-26 win against Saline.
 
The Redskins raised their record to 30-3 with wins in their final two regular season duals.
 
Winning twice for the Redskins were Noah Comar, Jake Phillips, Nick Rolland, Luke Deshano, Trent Sexton, Austin Popp and Josh Brown. 
 
Wrestlers with one win for the night for Clinton were Christian Minard, Evan Shovels, Nick LaCoss, Eathan Hicks and Verneri Korkee.
 
Clinton placed first in Madison’s Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6, with 261.5 points. Sand Creek was second with 222 points while Madison was third with 125. 
 
Individual champions for the Redskins were Comar, LaCoss, Rolland and Sexton. 
Finishing second were Shovels, Fletcher Mellinger, Garret Phillips, Korkee and Popp. 
 
Third place finishers for Clinton were Minard, Jake Phillips, Deshano and Josh Brown. 
 
Cecil Rafferty placed fourth for Clinton. 
 
This was the final regular season meet for the Redskins. The district team tournament was scheduled at Clinton on Wednesday before the team travels to Blissfield for the individual district portion of the postseason.
