At Tuesday’s meeting of the Personnel/Ways & Means Committee of the Lenawee County Commission, the committee voted to order a forensic audit of the financial records of Lenawee Now, an economic development agency, after a lengthy discussion that became heated at times.

In a special organizational meeting Friday, Jan. 6, the Lenawee County Commission installed two new members and elected a new chair and vice-chair, with recently elected commissioner Jim Van Doren narrowly chosen as chair in a 5-4 vote.

The Tecumseh Products property, now owned by the county, will see some preparation for next steps now that plans for the Project Phoenix sports and recreation facility have been shelved.

Lenawee County is pleased to announce a joint study session for the City of Adrian City Commission, City of Tecumseh City Council, and Lenawee County Board of Commissioners to further discuss Project Phoenix on June 6, from 5-6 p.m. at the Old Courthouse in Adrian.

Marty Marshall will retire as Lenawee County Administrator on April 21 after nearly 37 years as a county employee, but fortunately he has a capable replacement ready to step into his shoes and continue the work of the administrator’s office with no orientation needed.

At the October 20, 2021 meeting of the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners, the board voted to purchase the former Tecumseh Products property. The purchase has been completed and the property is now owned by Lenawee County.

A public/private partnership between the Lenawee County Commission and private stakeholders has led to a proposed $40 million project to construct a Lenawee County recreation facility at the former site of the Tecumseh Products Company.
