CLINTON — Amanda Schaare broke her own school record and won the state title in discus at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s (MHSAA) Lower Peninsula Division 3 Girls Track & Field Finals on Saturday, June 3, at Comstock Park High School in Grand Rapids.

TECUMSEH — Christina Sawyer led Tecumseh High School’s varsity girls track team to a 14th place finish at the Division 2 state finals at Zeeland High School on Saturday, June 3.

Official results reported by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) have Tecumseh’s varsity girls track and field team in first place and the boys third at the Division 2 meet at Monroe Jefferson on Friday, May 19.

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh’s varsity track teams participated in a Southeastern Conference Tri-meet against Dexter and Lincoln on Tuesday, May 2 and placed second.
Dexter placed first with 76 points while Tecumseh scored 62 points.

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh’s varsity girls and boys track teams competed at the Onsted Wildcat Relays on Wednesday, March 29 and placed second behind Onsted’s team point total of 92 with 88 points.

EUGENE, Ore. — In a nationally televised 2016 US Olympic Track and Field Trials event held in Eugene, Ore., on Sunday, July 10, Tecumseh graduate Amanda (Putt) Eccleston just missed advancing to the Olympic games with a fourth place finish in the 1,500.

In a foot race where every fraction of a second matters, Tecumseh High School distance runner Christina Sawyer stopped in her tracks when the runner beside her fell to the ground despite knowing that she was risking giving up a state championship.
