October 21-27 is National Friends of the Library Week, a time when libraries across the country celebrate the valuable contributions of their Friends groups. Our community is especially fortunate to have a Friends group so outstanding in its support of the Tecumseh District Library.

A vote was taken in the House of Representatives to oppose the withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria leaving our allies, the Kurds, to fend for themselves. Eighty percent of the House voted in favor of the resolution including 70 percent of the Republicans.

LARA (Michigan’s Department of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs) has decided to repeal most of the rules that define an LPC’s (licensed professional counselor) scope of practice. These rules have been recognized as part of the LPC’s scope of practice since 1988.

Two weeks ago I attended the “town hall” meeting, reported in this paper, with Representative Walberg. The meeting was marred by loud and contentious interruptions, which did limit the time of other constituents to ask questions.

Clinton Arts Center, a nonprofit corporation, has made the difficult decision to close Twelve Restaurant as of September 30, 2019. Twelve will remain open through the end of the Clinton Fall Festival to help attract visitors to our beloved festival.
