The mural slated for the west side entrance of downtown Tecumseh has been steadily taking shape as artist Alexa Daluz and her helpers have been working to transform the brick wall at 138 W. Chicago Blvd., the home of Clarkson Eye Care.

A plain brick wall at the west side entrance to downtown Tecumseh will soon be getting some color in the form of a mural depicting some of the best things about the city, thanks to the owners of the building, a committee from Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT), and some generous donors.

It’s no secret that a vibrant downtown can make or break a community. In Michigan, especially vulnerable to the decline in manufacturing jobs, loss of local industry, and the pandemic, retailers and entrepreneurs have had to retool their products and services to stay solvent.

APPLEUMPKIN — If the first day of fall has passed, the weather cools, and the leaves begin to don their autumn colors, Tecumseh’s annual Appleumpkin Festival can’t be far behind. The 2022 festival is in its 28th year and will take place in the downtown area Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8 and 9.
