A new women’s clothing and accessory store arrived in downtown Tecumseh at the end of May, when The Eve and Annie Boutique opened its doors in the space previously occupied by Radio Shack at 102 W. Chicago Blvd., Suite 102.

Tecumseh’s annual Sidewalk Sales and Summer Beach Party weekend July 19-20 will feature a whole lot of sand with a theme of “Sand in Tecumseh,” which will include a sand sculpting event by sculptors who also create the city’s ice sculptures during the winter Ice Sculpture Festival.

Citing too high a price, Tecumseh City Council on Monday voted down a recommendation to purchase vacant land at 121 S. Ottawa St. to expand the city’s southeast downtown parking lot.

Downtown Tecumseh will hold its 10th annual Art Walk on Friday, May 5 from 6-9 p.m., hosted by downtown Tecumseh merchants, Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT) and the Tecumseh Economic Development Department.

The 23rd Annual Appleumpkin Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in downtown Tecumseh. Festival organizers anticipate more than 28,000 will attend to take in the many facets of this fall event.
