Sunflower project aims to welcome Ukraine family

The journey of former Tecumseh High School exchange student Valeriya Isakova, her mother, Oksana, and her young brother, Artur, captured the hearts of Tecumseh residents as the family escaped the war in Ukraine earlier this year and traveled across Europe to safety.

Ukrainian family awaits visas to fly to U.S.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, more than four million Ukrainians have left their homes and headed to places like Poland, Germany, and the U.S. Among those refugees is Valeriya Isakova, an exchange student in Tecumseh in 2016.

Former THS exchange student flees Ukraine

At Monday night’s school board meeting Superintendent Rick Hilderley announced that a former Tecumseh High School exchange student from Ukraine has escaped the war in her country with her mother and brother and has been in regular contact with her host family in Tecumseh.
