Three Tecumseh residents — Cleon Broussard, Jacob Martinez and Joshua Mattison — are running in the November 8 general election to fill two seats on the Tecumseh Public Schools (TPS) Board of Education, as Board Secretary Becky Brooks and Trustee Suzanne Moore are not seeking reelection.

Incumbent County Commissioner David Stimpson and challenger Bill Swift will face off November 8 to represent residents of the city of Tecumseh and Tecumseh Township on the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners.

The Tecumseh Public Schools (TPS) Board of Education heard reports on efforts to share information on two bond issues on the November ballot to raise a total of $88.5 million for district improvements during Monday night’s meeting, as well as results of student testing done last spring.

Four of the nine Lenawee County Commission seats will be on the ballot in the August 2 Republican Primary, including District 7, which includes Ridgeway Township, and District 9, which encompasses Franklin Township, Macon Township, and Clinton Township, including the Village of Clinton.

A board vote on another try at passing a bond proposal to improve Tecumseh Public Schools buildings and construct a new elementary school was postponed at Monday night’s meeting of the school board until more information could be obtained regarding the language of the proposal.

With a variety of discussions and one decision, the Tecumseh Public Schools Board covered a lot of ground Monday night. A bid of $31,505 was accepted to move forward with the construction of two terraced seating walls for the amphitheater at the high school Sculpture Garden.
