In a powerful show of support for the arts, the Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) has received a $50,000 anonymous donation, prompting the launch of a matching fundraising campaign that calls to the community to help raise an additional $50,000.

An antique tractor poker run held on August 12 brought the owners of 276 tractors with 101 riders together to raise an astounding $44,000 for ALS of Michigan, an organization that provides services to individuals with ALS and their families.

A parent’s most treasured role is taking care of their child. Victor and Anne Burpee of Tecumseh have experienced that role more intensely since their son Vann, a sixth-grade student at Tecumseh Middle School, was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor.

Community Learning Connections’ (CLC) annual May Mingle fundraiser will be held Saturday, May 14 at Tecumseh Golf Club, 5200 Milwaukee Rd., with the theme “Disco Inferno.” The event will take place from 6-10 p.m. with dinner from 6-7:30 p.m., plus a cash bar and live entertainment.

Old National Bank recently held a fundraiser for Tecumseh’s 14-year-old Julianna Kurutz, raising almost $2,200. Kurutz has a brain tumor and is fighting cancer as she goes into her freshman year at Tecumseh High School.

Tecumseh resident Michelle Crandall loves animals so much that she rebranded the photography business she started in 2013 as a pet photography business, Pets in Focus Photography, after graduating from the inaugural Launch Lenawee entrepreneur class in Adrian last April.

The Tecumseh High School Sculpture Garden has now reached the second phase of development. The project began in 2013 guided by THS art teacher Christine Obeid and her art students.
“It started with students and I helped them to focus in with what they really wanted,” said Obeid.
