Two sisters transplanted from the Chicagoland area of Illinois to Tecumseh have not only put down roots in the community, they now plan to open a retail store downtown to fill the space between J-Bar Hobbies and Pentamere Winery.

The long-awaited extension of the Kiwanis trail from its end at Green Highway and Ives Road into the City of Tecumseh will be celebrated with a soft opening Saturday, Nov. 19 at Cal Zorn Park at the intersection of Russell Road and Raisin Center Highway.

Planning for a restaurant and brewery at the Hayden Ford Mill has continued onward, but has been slowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic effects.

Last year’s precautions delayed the start of Tecumseh’s Farmers Market until June, but this year the market will be right on schedule with opening day set for Saturday, May 22 and the return of most of the event’s regular features at the Market on Evans, 213 N. Evans St.

The new state of the art, 32,000 square-foot YMCA on North Adrian Highway is set to open at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, after years of planning and months of construction just north of the newly-opened ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital.

The Tecumseh Farmers Market, which normally begins its season in mid-May, will open Saturday, June 6 with changes to protect both vendors and customers during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
