Voters in the city of Tecumseh will be asked this fall to renew the street improvement millage, after city council voted unanimously to place the measure on the November 5 ballot. The city is seeking a 5-year millage rate of 1.92, which is $1.92 for every $1,000 of taxable value on property.

The 2-mill road levy Tecumseh voters approved in 2019 is expiring this year. The program has generated some $2.5 million to help fund street improvements around the city, but many more miles of streets still need repair.

A proposed .95 millage will be on the ballot for Raisin Charter Township residents in November, a plan created by the Lenawee County Road Commission to bring every road in the township up to good working condition.

Repairing Raisin Township’s roads is one of the township board’s goals, and with the help of the community, taking a country drive will be a smoother, more pleasant experience.

Business for Tecumseh Township is routine, with roadwork and elections taking primary focus in 2016. Township Supt. Roy Schlegel said above all, the majority of township funds will be used to upgrade the condition of the roads.
