A local group of women dedicated to sharing information on voting is gearing up for this year’s presidential primary and Election Day by planning several events meant to inform the public and promote the vote.

The Neighbors of Hope (NOH) Women’s and Children’s Ministry Center located at 502 E. Pottawatamie St. officially opened with a ribbon cutting August 13, and in just three months the transitional housing program has been actively changing the lives of the women and children residing there.

A proposal to open a homeless shelter for women and children in the closed Herrick Manor facility at 500 E. Pottawatamie St. took a step forward Tuesday night with a recommendation from the Tecumseh Planning Commission to City Council.

Nineteen women and men from Tecumseh are making the journey to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Women’s March on Washington (WMW) on what will be President Donald Trump’s first full day in office on Saturday. Kailah Clifft, Breinne Reeder, and the Rev. Cathi King will be among them.
