Re-Tree Tecumseh would like to thank all of the volunteers who turned out on the last two Saturday mornings to help plant trees. At Brookside Cemetery, we planted 14 memorial trees in tribute to loved ones.

As we near the end of the warmest year ever it is apparent that climate change is the existential challenge facing citizens of Tecumseh and the entire world. We collectively need to do more to combat it.

Because of the budget deficit, difficult decisions need to be made at Tecumseh Public Schools. Many teachers advocated for themselves and their students at the recent Board of Education (BOE) meeting, and as a parent, I love their passion and enthusiasm.

On November 7th, Tecumseh Public Schools will present voters with a critical decision – the renewal of the Non-Homestead Millage. This millage, set at 18, primarily impacts commercial properties, some agricultural holdings, and non-principal residences.

The Catherine Cobb Safe House will host its Eighth Annual Everyday Heroes Event on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Adrian Armory at 6 p.m. to honor individuals who have shown courage, kindness, and unselfish acts of heroism in the Lenawee County community.

October 28 is Make a Difference Day. This day of service has been observed on the fourth Saturday in October since 1992. Across America, service projects range from food drives to building ramps and painting community murals. These projects are a diverse way to a common end: service to others.

On Monday October 9, the Lenawee County Commissioners Ways and Means Committee heard discussion about a resolution of support of local control of township zoning.
