A lemonade stand initiated by five-year-old Lincoln Ing and organized by Lincoln’s mom, Nicole to help pay for a service dog for his friend, Jackson Metevia, raised over $4,000 on Saturday, Jan. 21 during Tecumseh’s Ice Sculpture Festival.

Seventh and eighth grade students from both Tecumseh East and West STEAM centers started their school year with a focus on service, traveling to various locations in Tecumseh and beyond to volunteer their time and energy to help organizations, nonprofits and individuals.

After the United States declared war on the German Empire on April 6, 1917, young American men quickly enlisted in the Armed Forces. Ralph William Brooks was the first Tecumseh resident to enlist in World War I, according to his niece, Jean Smith.
