I want to take this opportunity to thank the many friends who joined our family to honor and celebrate the life of my brother, Dean Kirkland. I’ve long known that being from a close-knit community has great benefits. And that fact was never more evident than Sunday, Oct. 23.

Some clarifications to Mike Morast’s letter last week are needed.
First, I never said the January 6 committee shouldn’t be convened. It should have, but with real Republicans to ask real questions, not rubber-stamp Trump haters hand-picked by (Nancy) Pelosi.

A huge thank you to the Builder’s Club at Tecumseh for raking and bagging my leaves. The students from the middle school had fun and provided a much needed service. Sorry I wasn’t able to be there. Thanks to my granddaughter Atlanta for being there for me.

Last week, Re-Tree Tecumseh added 22 new street trees on West Russell Road along Zorn Park. This was made possible in part by a Consumers Energy Community Street and Boulevard Tree Planting Grant.

It broke my heart to read Burke Castleberry had stepped down as our county’s prosecuting attorney, not because I knew him, but because I didn’t. I only know the position.
I’ve watched a handful of great, well-respected attorneys in that position who were very kind to me.

I am honored to be the superintendent of schools in Tecumseh. It is easily the crowning achievement in my 34-year career. I love this community, our staff, and our students, and serve them all with gratitude and pride!

The taxpayers and residents of the Tecumseh School District will again vote on an effort to secure funding for a wide variety of projects, after a failed attempt earlier this year, now as a combination of bonds for improvements, modifications, and more, in the General Election coming up next week
