There is some truth to the conservative notion that there is waste and fraud in government services, paid for with citizen tax dollars. But the implementation path needs to be a more nuanced approach than the mass firings that has so far been selected by the Trump administration.

As winter settles in and snow piles up, I can’t help but notice a recurring issue in the Tecumseh community—uncleared sidewalks. While many of us rely on delivery drivers to bring us food, packages, and other essentials, we are failing to provide them with a safe path to do their jobs.

Last week President Trump started a North American trade war by imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. This surprised some since he only imposed a 10% tariff on China, who is not our ally and represents a far greater threat.

The overwhelming generosity of the people of Tecumseh helped provide joy to children in need through Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts this season. Across the U.S., the Samaritan’s Purse project collected 10.5 million shoebox gifts in 2024.
