August 24 is the official staring date for the Michigan Athletic Association’s varsity football season; however, Tecumseh High School’s players have been preparing all summer long for Thursday and Friday night games under the lights.

If all the stars line up this year Tecumseh’s varsity boys soccer team may be in for another great season. Indians coach Jerry Nowak was optimistic and a bit superstitious when talking about what may be in store for the fans.

TECUMSEH — The annual Lenawee County Cross Country Preview was held at Tecumseh High School on Saturday, Aug. 19 and the hosting girls team placed first in the event while the Indians’ boys finished third behind Adrian and Onsted.

Only two drivers had won three or more consecutive races over a 49-year time span at Michigan International Speedway before Kyle Larson accomplished the feat on Sunday, Aug. 13, with a win in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Pure Michigan 400.

BROOKLYN — Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. made a move to go three-wide with 11 laps remaining and then held off all challengers to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series LTi Printing 200 on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Michigan International Speedway.

A whole lot of local football fans postponed their summer vacation plans and attended the inaugural Lenawee County All-Star Football Senior Showcase on Friday, June 16, at Britton High School where the West soundly beat the East 38-15.

CLINTON — Another state championship was earned by a Clinton High School athlete with Austin Fauser placing first overall in the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 4 golf tournament on Saturday, June 10, at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers East Golf Course.
