Tecumseh’s 8th Annual Ice Sculpture Festival will give the community reason to get outside this weekend, with activities downtown Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 22 from noon until 4 p.m.

A bit of Tecumseh history will end October 31 when the Big Boy restaurant at 2701 E. Monroe Rd., owned by Joe and Sherri Tuckey and Joe’s brother, Blair, will cease to be a franchise, dropping the Big Boy name.

Tecumseh City Council passed a resolution on Tuesday to amend the city’s 2016-17 budget for the general fund from $5,240,872 to $5,394,355 following unexpected revenues during the last six months. The city is currently halfway through the fiscal year, which runs July 1 through June 30.

Lightning Quick may be a familiar name to Tecumseh area residents. Owner Rex Crist closed the party shop’s doors in 1999 to make room for what is now CVS Pharmacy. But Crist is back and this time he’s building Lightning Quick Gas N Go near the intersection of M-50 and M-52.
