TECUMSEH — A $723,980 discrepancy in the Tecumseh Public Schools’ 2024-25 budget led to less money being put into the district’s savings than expected and the resignation of the district’s business services director.

Tecumseh City Council has until May 12 to adopt its annual budget and so far, council members are on track to meet their deadline. The full document is available at City Hall for public review ahead of the May 5 public hearing and subsequent adoption. The public hearing will start at 7:30 p.m.

The city’s Capital Improvements Program (CIP) funding will be part of the upcoming 2025-2026 annual budget, a draft of which city council will get its first look at April 21. The adoption of the annual FY 2-25-2026 budget will be on the council’s May 5 agenda.

Tecumseh’s millage rate —the factor by which property taxes are determined for taxpayers —won’t be going up in the next fiscal year, but water and sewer bills will reflect a 3.9 percent increase starting July 1.
