At its August 5 meeting, the Tecumseh City Council authorized City Manager Dan Swallow to negotiate an agreement for a Cluster Development Option in the city’s zoning ordinance with the possibility of financial assistance to the developer for public infrastructure costs.

The Tecumseh City Council on Monday approved a resolution amending the millage rate for general operating expenses in the  2024-2025 fiscal year from 13.9183 to 13.9364.

Tecumseh’s millage rate —the factor by which property taxes are determined for taxpayers —won’t be going up in the next fiscal year, but water and sewer bills will reflect a 3.9 percent increase starting July 1.

Council rejects proposal to allow fabric on fences

Despite the pleas of residents to make changes to the city’s zoning ordinance to allow fabric screens on fences, the Tecumseh City Council rejected the measure in a 6-1 vote, with Councilmember Austin See casting the dissenting vote.

Voters in the city of Tecumseh will have some decisions to make November 7.

Three seats are up for grabs on the city council, a city charter proposal and subsequent charter commission will be decided, and Tecumseh Public Schools are seeking an operating millage renewal.
