Downtown Open House kicks off holiday season

The merchants of downtown Tecumseh host the annual Holiday Open House on Friday and Saturday. Holiday shopping hours with the 27 downtown merchants will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tecumseh School Board calls for election of pool millage renewal

The Tecumseh School Board voted to call for election on March 8, 2016, to renew the 0.25 millage for the indoor pool located at Tecumseh Middle School.

The board passed the call for election unanimously at Monday’s meeting with members Steven Linn and Greg Johnson absent.

Raisin Township budget hearing set for Monday

The Raisin Township Board of Trustees met Monday and addressed several agenda items. Absent from the meeting were trustees Dale Mitchell and Kami Johnson.

Brooks was first Tecumseh resident to enlist in WWI, served on S.S. Kentuckian

After the United States declared war on the German Empire on April 6, 1917, young American men quickly enlisted in the Armed Forces. Ralph William Brooks was the first Tecumseh resident to enlist in World War I, according to his niece, Jean Smith.

Two escape serious injury in plane crash near airport

A pleasant flight around the area on Tuesday afternoon ended abruptly for pilot Captain Jim Mynning and Tecumseh Police Officer Tim Ryan when their Piper PA 18 Super Cub plane crashed just west of Al Meyers Airport across Tecumseh-Clinton Road.

Contract with new manager approved 6-1

In a 6-1 vote Monday, Tecumseh City Council approved the contract for new city manager Daniel Swallow, who is currently serving as City of Monroe’s economic development and community director. Councilmember Ron Wimple was the dissenting vote.

Family of teen killed in drunk-driving crash files lawsuit

A lawsuit filed in Washtenaw County Trial Court October 6 by the parents of Curt Orlowski, who was killed in a drunken-driving crash last year, claims the parents of Travis Cunningham, Daniel and Elizabeth, furnished the alcohol that led to the crash, according to court records.

Tecumseh recognized for its strategies on business growth and economic development
