Plans are set for Tecumseh’s recognition of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, including a parade, a flyover, and a ceremony at Brookside Cemetery to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Hilderley retiring after 35 years in education

Tecumseh Public Schools (TPS) Superintendent Rick Hilderley will spend his last day in the district Friday, June 7, capping off 35 years of a career in education after coming “home” in 2019 to the district where it all started.

LRC Commercial of Michigan, the Farmington Hills-based real estate investment company that purchased the Tecumseh Public Schools (TPS) administration building on North Ottawa Street for $40,000 last summer, has placed the building back on the market with an asking price of $600,000.

Board changes lanes on pool repair funding

A plan to fund crucial repairs to Tecumseh Community Pool at Tecumseh Middle School by placing a 10-year, .40 mill bond on the August primary ballot was kiboshed after the Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education found that the type of repairs needed do not qualify for bond funding.

Nighttime helps shape new mural

The mural slated for the west side entrance of downtown Tecumseh has been steadily taking shape as artist Alexa Daluz and her helpers have been working to transform the brick wall at 138 W. Chicago Blvd., the home of Clarkson Eye Care.

Utilities project with Johnson Controls ok’d by council in 4-3 voter

The first steps in improvements to the city’s water system and waste water treatment plant were taken at Monday night’s city council meeting when councilmembers voted 4-3 to approve an agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) to assist in the process.
