Picking up a 34-26 non-conference varsity football victory at Airport High School on Friday, Oct. 21, improved Tecumseh’s overall record to 4-5 but it was a bittersweet ending for the Indians as they will not be advancing into the playoffs.

Tecumseh City Council voted 5-2 Monday to confirm the appointment of Kelly Jo Gilmore to head up Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) as director. The timing of the appointment was unannounced and came as a surprise to the public.

Grief knows no boundaries. It doesn’t discriminate, nor is it bigoted. In the case of George and Najwa Saadeh and Rami Elhanan, Palestinian and Israeli parents who lost daughters on opposite sides of the wall separating Israel and Palestine in decades-long violence, grief brought them together.

Plans for a 30,000 square foot addition to the Ervin Industries plant at 200 Industrial Drive in the city’s industrial park off Russell Road were approved by the Tecumseh Planning Commission following a public hearing on Tuesday.

The 23rd Annual Appleumpkin Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in downtown Tecumseh. Festival organizers anticipate more than 28,000 will attend to take in the many facets of this fall event.
